What is a department of justice Canada?
The agency supports the state to devise policy and reforms as needed. It also represents the government in court as well as provides legal support and advice. Its responsibilities also include the administration of the Canadian justice system.
Furthermore, it works under the ministry of justice and under the law, known as the attorney general of Canada. The department was established in 1868 by the justice act. Its headquarters is in Ottawa.
According to the justice act, both the attorney general and minister of justice have specific roles. The minister is financed by a political party, while the attorney general is an autonomous officer and gives legal services to the government.
